Podcast Review

Before this week I had never heard of “podcast”. A podcast is a series of digital media files that are released as episodes that can be obtained through downloads or web syndications.  The great thing about podcasts is that you can listen to it on your computer or download them on an iPod and listen to them whenever you have time. I must admit I had a lot of trouble getting podcasts from my computer into my iPod, but listening to them online is very easy (usually all you have to do is press play).

The above link is where you can find the podcast for Oprah and Friends. I listened to Oprah and Friends Episode 41: Janet Jackson.  Contrary to my initial thought, Oprah was not the speaker or interviewer in this podcast, her best friend Gayle King is and other people she invites on the show. This episode talks about a wide variety of issues. The first speaker, Gayle King, talks with Janet Jackson on her career, childhood, and how it was being the sister of the Jackson Five. Then, Rabbi Shmuley talks about how to accept compliments. Next, Peter Walsh talks to Dave Chameides and gives tips on how to cut down on excess clutter at home. Finally, Jean Chatzky talks to an author and Dr. Oz raps up the episode.

I only had a short time to explore podcasts, but I am defiantly interested in getting to know more about them and how to use them. I spend two hours at the gym five days a week and I think listening to podcasts while working out would help past the time. I like the fact that unlike conventional radio I can pick out what topics I am interested. Podcast are such a great invention that I am surprised I have not heard of them sooner.
